Roland`s Bistro in Maryville

The food is amazing, just like the home cooked food I enjoyed in Europe. The owner and his family, who own and run the restaurant, are warm and welcoming people. Roland is an expert on German food because he is from Germany and holds himself and the staff to the highest of standards. Excellent!

This visit so exceeded our expectations! The Reuben is worth choosing again so many times. The bread is ideally sliced and balanced in its season. The kraut can not be duplicated from any can ever. The corned beef is so tender and thoughtful..The secret sauce is unique and lovely.. I wish for another visit as splendid

German restaurant owned by a native of Germany. Good food at a good price. If you're a bit nervous about eating outside your comfort zone, they also make amazing hamburgers. Personal rule is that the harder it is to pronounce, the better its going to taste.

Their Käsespätzle is to die for. Delicious warm potato salad, and their salad was colorful and delicious. Mary, our waitress, was enthusiastic and engaging. I can't wait to go back to try their dessert!

We stopped here after hiking in the Smokies. I've always wanted to try this place but hadn't had a chance. The service is excellent, the selection of German Beers is great, and the food is awesome. It looks unassuming from the outside, but it's definitely worth stopping in. They make their own salad dressings and ketchup, and it's all fresh and free of artificial preservatives and high fructose corn syrup.Stop in, you'll be glad you did.

Gordon & his wife & crew deserve a 10! They are so nice abd easy to work with....we purchased our onward there & they service it every month for us. We really like our club car also!

Food pretty good. Dont go if you're in a hurry cause they cook to order. Staff very nice.

Fantastic restaurant with the best service I have ever encountered. Went for lunch to try something different, and were not dissapointed. Had currywurst, bratwurst, hot potato salad and sour kraut. Outstanding. We'll worth a try and we'll definitely be back.

Excellent German food in a friendly, homey atmosphere. The staff were very nice and took time to explain menu items and make recommendations that weren't pushy, just nice! The homemade German 'mac-n-cheese was amazing as well as the bratwurst. They had a very rich and delicious carrot soup that was surprisingly complementary. Excellent all the way around! OH!!! They have really neat local crafts for sale at extremely reasonable prices. I was able to get some nice gifts without spending a fortune AND supporting local art....I will be back there soon so I'll add pics :)

We shared a wonderful family evening at this fantastic place. The staff was attentive as we waited for our food to be freshly prepared, and the wait was well worth it. In our party of seven, everyone was a member of the "clean plate club".If you want delicious, fresh food "with a German touch", Roland's Bistro should be at. The top of your list. Roland's has become our go-to place whenever we have guests in town.

This German Bistro was a great find on Lamar Alexander hwy. Friendly German owner, home cooked authentic food. Enjoyed beef stroganoff soup, schnitzel club, and more.

Music is very distracting and too loud. It takes a long time to get food. Wait staff seemed very confused. Food is very different, but good.

This place is great. Loved the food. Loved the service. Loved the atmosphere.

Dining at Roland's Bistro is a delightful experience. The food and staff are top notch. Each person in my party ordered a variety of schnitzel since it was the final day of their Schniztelfest. We were all amazed by the flavor and presentation. Dessert was equally delicious. Try it! You won't be disappointed.

Great food great service!

Lovely German Restaurant. Breads and cabbage were good. Potato salad was outstanding. We tried the sampler platter and were impressed. Finished with German Christmas cookies. Highly recommended.

Food just ok. Meatballs nothing special. Strogonoff had too wine taste. Really wanted some potato pancakes. Service was great

A charming little place. The service could use a little work, but I think our server was pretty new, so I took that into consideration. The food was very good. Favorites were the curry wurst and the blue cheese spinach.

What I had was good, but very different than I what used too, I only had a dessert this time and it was delicious. Will return to try again and order food. I had a Kaiserschmarrn. Recommend!

Quaint little hole in the wall place with good food and a lovely atmosphere

Food was good service was good but they do need to hire some help.

This unassuming place is well worth a visit. I had the Königsberger Klopse (a meatball dish) and my wife had the Currywurst. We both got sauerkraut and a salad, which were great. My meal came with mash potatoes and hers with fries. The mash potatoes went well with the gravy they put on the meatballs. We also ordered ice cream for dessert. It is creamy vanilla ice cream with dark german chocolate sauce, not thick like you might expect but definitely rich. Definitely want to make another trip to try another dish or two.

I’ve been here several times and never been disappointed. Truly delicious food!!! My favorite tonight was the turkey medallions in sherry sauce. My friend had the stroganoff. It was all delicious.

The food was excellent! We've been to a lot of German restaurants, and to Germany, and we thoroughly enjoyed Roland's. The sampler platter demonstrated the breadth of their menu, and each component was top notch.We will be returning.

The best restaurant in Maryville and it isn't even close. Everything made fresh to order and it was all phenomenal. Thankfully we found this place because it will now become a regular trip.

We stopped in just before 2:00, completely unaware that they close from 2-5. Rather than turn us away they took great care of us and served some pretty amazing food. We'll definitely be back (During regular business hours)

Food is good but it takes forever... We were literally the only ones there and we still waited more than 30 mins to get our food. This is the 2nd time we have been there and it was very slow then also. The inside is kinda weird also... You walk in to a hutch of stuff for sale straight inside the door. The waitress neither time has been great. Fine but not overly friendly. Prices are mostly good.

Hands down the best German food I have ever eaten (visited Germany three times and have a German mother in law). Reuben, Schnitzel, cabbagr, potato salad...even dessert were all A++. The waitress (Britney I believe) was attentive and kind and knew the both the menu and the history of the placw. Roland is a gifted chef and appears to put his heart in every meal. Highly recommended for anyone in the Knoxville-Pigeon Forge-Gatlinburg area!

Never disappointing. Consistently excellent food with a great lunch menu. If you like German food, you owe it to yourself to come check this place out.

We went here for a Mothers’ Day dinner and it did not disappoint. Both the service and the food was incredible and I would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone. A perfect 10 out of 10.

We had the opportunity to live in Germany and enjoyed the food. We had a great place in FL but couldn't find one here. Daw a posting on Nextdoor Neighbor for Rolands Bistro tried it and very happy. The food was delicious as was the beer. 1805 R Lamar Alexander Pkwy, Maeyville. Deffinately going back.

I come here very often to eat at this gem of a restaurant. It is very unique in a great way, as in it's environment and charm are unlike other restaurants. The staff here are really awesome. If you ever get the chance to meet the owner while dining in here, he's a very nice person to talk with in English or in German. The best for last with this review is that this food is absolutely delicious! Give this place a try for yourself and see how great of a gem this restaurant truly is.

So good. Bread is delicious

The waitress was great but the food was just not that good compared to other German restaurants that I went to. I first thought about ordering the breaded and fried veal but the price point was 14 to 15 and if I wanted gravy then it would be 1.50 more. I won’t pay that price point for that .... gravy should not be extra on a fried veal patty. I went with the breakfast instead. The sausage was pink in the middle. The potatoes were so so. You would be better served coming up with another spice for them. I asked for the egg to be scrambled with butter and received something like an solid omelet with a strange flavor not to my liking. The fruit plate was nice and the presentation was good. The inside of the restaurant was interesting and I found the paintings to be interesting.

Quite possibly the best sit down restaurant this side of the Mississippi. Everyone in my family enjoys the food its a great atmosphere along with plenty of options and the best staff. I more than most enjoy the authentic German selection of brews. Keep it up Roland!

The food was very good. The service was great. This is not a place you go when in a hurry. Everything is made to order and takes time. They make their on salad dressings and ketchup both are very good.

Took my wife here for lunch and will be back. Excellent food. Soup was Amazing! The staff here are super courteous. They made recommendations on what to eat explained how it was prepared, etc. I would highly recommend!

I love this place, but have been working so much that I never have time to go anymore. That said, I have had one of my jobs go away so I'll have more time. I just need to budget the money since that went away too, LOL! I long for the salad and the tomato soup and the griebensmalz, which is my absolute favorite.

This was our first time eating here and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and the service fantastic. Chef Roland was wonderful. He took the time to come out and visit with us and explain anything we did not understand. We will definitely be back.
